Brentwell Construction is a growing construction company looking for an experienced estimator to join their team.Responsibilities
- Receive confirmed lead pursuits from General Manager
- Gather/create specifications directly from client
- Request Vendor quotes
- Perform quantity take offs for estimates
- Perform site inspections to gauge necessary sitespecific conditions/implications
- Create worksheets/notes with sufficient detail for cost tracking
- Support Accounts Manager with proposal creation (specifications, allowances, exclusions)
- Maintain database of lost bids to be used for future plug numbers, high level assessments and conceptual budgets
- Manage all relevant bid information and pass on to the rest of the team as required
- Support Production and Project managers with lumber lists, quantity take offs and additional vendor pricing during active project phase
- Produce "Conceptual Budgets" referencing model plans to facilitate potential design/build clients
Technical Requirements
- Must be adept in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, and Outlook
- Full understanding of residential construction industry and projects, system sizing/calculations/capacities; equipment selections, best supplies and design practices, design and coordination drawings, BC building code compliance and related design data
- Able to review and understand plans and specifications
- Able to review documents and identify project bid requirements, the scope of work, critical schedule and sequences, nonstandard work conditions, cost impacts, material and equipment data, safety and compliance requirements, risk management and special requirements
- Produce quantity takeoffs for labour, equipment, materials, safety and security requirements needed to complete the project per contract specifications, ensuring the accuracy of pricing
- Prepare proposal letters, cost breakdowns, etc.
- Create a detailed estimate with appropriate material, labour and subbreakdowns; setup budgets and schedule of values
- Manage the bid process from documents and design through to the job kickoff meeting
- Consult with subcontractors, suppliers and other stakeholders regarding invitations, pricing, addenda, schedules, tender/bid closings; reviews bid/tender documents, assess potential risk and resolve potential issues

Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in one of the following; Engineering, Construction Management or a related field
- An equivalent combination of education and experience with a strong background in design/build work, plan and spec work will be considered
- 5+ years of Construction Project Estimating experience
