About the National Arts Centre Foundation

The National Arts Centre Foundation raises funds to support the National Arts Centre's work in performance, creation, and learning across Canada.

Founded in 2000 as a separate legal entity, the Foundation has raised over $170 million to date and is currently in a $100M comprehensive campaign to support the revitalization of the performing arts across the country.

With a staff team of 18, along with an active Board of Directors and Campaign Cabinet, the Foundation has a donor base of over 6,000 and raises $7M-$10M annually.

Key Activities


The Development Coordinator, Major Gifts, will liaise closely and collaborate with members of the Major Gifts Team, and occasionally with CEO of the NAC Foundation and with the Director of Philanthropy and Campaign.

Reporting directly to the Senior Development Officer, Major Gifts, the incumbent will focus on supporting the team through administrative duties such as meeting coordination, meeting preparation and database upkeep.


  • Specific duties may include the following:
  • Assist the team with external meeting management and preparation of meeting materials including briefing notes, proposals, presentations, reports and other materials as required;
  • Monitor donor activity, ensuring that contract reports and follow up actions needed are recorded and completed;
  • Prepare donor correspondence, gift agreements, pledge reminders, gift acknowledgement letters, briefing materials, and project and program profiles for a suite of NAC/NAC Foundation initiatives;
  • Provide support in the coordination of stewardship materials with major donors and partners regarding the impact of their giving, the use of funds and periodic updates as necessary;
  • Ensure appropriate and timely communications with donors including, but not limited to, prompting gift acknowledgements/thank you letters, preparing invitations to special events, etc.;
  • Develop and maintain understanding of team processes and processes for working with other teams in the Foundation;
  • Perform dataentry, expense reporting and filing of information on behalf of the team, maintain and update donor records, and monitor major gifts reports;
  • Monitor and support the execution of donor agreement fulfillment, pledge fulfillment and stewardship activities;
  • Occasionally assist in organizing, coordinating and managing donor cultivation and stewardship activations and events;
  • Assist in other duties as required in furthering the goals of the Development team and the Foundation.

Skill Requirements:


  • College or university degree or equivalent experience;
  • Experience in donor/customer/client services (an asset being in a performing arts setting);
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including MS Teams, Outlook or similar scheduling software;
  • Knowledge of the Canadian charitable, philanthropic and notforprofit sector;
  • Proficiency with databases and data entry; knowledge of Raiser's Edge specifically an asset;
  • Prior customer service experience considered an asset;
  • Ability to operate and thrive in a collaborative environment, as well as to work independently;
  • Demonstrated flexibility and initiative;
  • Ability to think strategically and adapt quickly;
  • Detail oriented, focused and strategic thinker, with passion and energy;
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications
