    Description

    QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training And Experience

    Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing. Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant or a practicing RPN registrant. Five to seven years' recent related experience, including two years' relevant clinical experience, and two years supervisory experience.

    • Ability to supervise.
    • Ability to provide direct patient care when and if needed.
    • Ability to organize, coordinate and prioritize own work and that of others.
    • Ability to coordinate a unit within available resources including the ability to develop and modify budgets.
    • Ability to use a collaborative approach to problem solving supported by a systems approach.
    • Ability to effectively employ human relation skills including conflict resolution.
    • Contributes to the professional and the organizational vision as it pertains to clinical practice and patient care.
    • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving skills.
    • Demonstrated commitment to collaborative practice and life-long learning.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and leadership skills regarding best practice in excellence in care for older adults with mental health challenges.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of the Mental Health Act and Adult Guardianship Act and/or other relevant legislation.
    • Commitment to ongoing learning and development, working knowledge of best practice in tertiary senior's mental health care and person centered care.
    • Demonstrated ability to facilitate change.
    • Ability to operate related equipment.
    • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
    • Current CPR level C recommended.
