We currently have a
Regular Full-Time opportunity for a
Steamfitter in the
Plant Operations and Maintenance department at our
Bayview Campus.



Hours of Work:
Weekdays
: Days, Evenings; 8hrs; As per schedule


Weekends:
On rotation


Summary of Duties

  • Repairs steam, condensate, heating and ventilation systems
  • Repairs steam system devices, installs and/or replaces piping
  • Performs regular preventative maintenance on all steam system devices, including thorough inspection of steam traps throughout the Hospital as assigned
  • Prepares and lays out own material for repair or new installation.
  • Carries out other steamfitter duties as assigned
Qualifications/Skills

  • Minimum Grade 1
  • Possesses a current Ontario Certificate of Qualification as a Steamfitter
  • Proven proficiency in the installation, alteration, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of steam and mechanical systems
  • Ability to perform work at the journeyman level
  • Ability to read and understand steam and mechanical system drawings
  • Experience in a hospital/healthcare setting is preferred
  • Experience with fire sprinkler systems is an asset
  • Understanding of control systems is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in a variety of situations
  • Proven teamwork and customer service focus
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, problem solve and work on own initiative
  • Additional related qualifications such as Plumber, Pipefitter and Welder are an asset
