Position Summary
Reporting to the Manager/Quality Leader, Laboratory Services, through the Team Leader, the Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) is responsible for specimen collection which includes obtaining samples by phlebotomy or micro-sample techniques.
Qualifications:
- Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent required.
- Successful completion of Laboratory Assistant Training Program is required.
- Certification with Ontario Society of Medical Technologists (OSMT), MLPAO or Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) required.
- Minimum two (2) years technical training/experience in a laboratory setting, hospital laboratory preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate proficiently, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve independently.
- Demonstrated ability to keep accurate records.
