We are currently looking for a
Financial Business Analyst to join our Transmission General Admin team in a permanent position.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Ops Finance, you will be responsible for monitoring the financial results of various business units within Energy Delivery as the Financial Business Analyst is a key member of the Nova Scotia Power Finance team.


As a Financial Business Analyst, you will be:

  • Working with business leaders to prepare budgets and forecasts.
  • Providing accounting for the monthly, quarterly, and yearly closes.
  • Providing detailed variance analyses to budget, forecast and prior year and monitor spending.
  • Completing monthly reconciliations.
  • Assisting internal clients to meet financial goals and identify cost savings initiatives.
  • Performing tasks with excellent overall quality, while being able to prioritize work to meet deadlines and identify, recommend, and implement process improvements.


You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of co-workers, by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.

You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the environmental management system processes and initiatives.


What skills will make you successful?

  • You have excellent computer skills using Microsoft Excel and are comfortable using accounting software.
  • You possess solid oral and written communication skills and have demonstrated success in effectively presenting and communicating ideas at a variety of levels.
  • You have strong organizational skills, are detail oriented, and are comfortable working to deadlines.
  • You can work well both independently and collaboratively as a member of a team.
  • A working knowledge of Oracle Financial System, Power Plan and PeopleSoft would be considered an asset.
