The Opportunity:
- The Provincial Preschool Autism Service (PPAS) is a partnership between IWK Health (IWK), Nova Scotia Health (NSH), Hearing and Speech Nova Scotia (HSNS) and Autism Nova Scotia (Autism NS). Based upon an extensive review and engagement, autism services in Nova Scotia are in the process of transitioning to a needsbased model responsive to the individual needs of children and their families. It will provide person and familycentred services to preschoolers across Nova Scotia who are suspected of or have a diagnosis of autism. The new and enhanced services will include a greater number and range of interventions and supports available for children and families.
Examples include:
autism clinical intake and care coordination, family and health professional education, diagnostic assessments, QuickStart parent coaching toddler program, a 12-month intensive intervention for children with the greatest social communication and behavior needs, autism interventions by interprofessional teams, and transition to school.
The intent is to create an efficient, sustainable, and integrated continuum of health services for preschool-age children with autism where services and supports are matched to the needs of children and their families.

The position is responsible for supporting oversight and on-going management of the PPAS services streams and staff assigned to the Clinical Manager, Provincial Preschool Autism Service, Central Zone.
(E.g., EIBI and future services, including Interprofessional Autism Interventions Team, 12-month intensive intervention team, Clinical Intake and Care Coordination, Autism Diagnostics and Foundational Education).
The Operations Manager will participate and/or lead components of the implementation process and ongoing committees/provincial initiatives as assigned, will contribute to the development of policies and procedures, and will ensure they are incorporated into practice.
The position will provide leadership, coaching and guidance for staff and will communicate with families of children with autism regarding concerns and opportunities.
The position will contribute to identifying patient safety concerns and quality improvement initiatives and will work collaboratively with the Manager and other members of the leadership team to identify solutions and directions forward.
The Operations Manager will support the development and maintenance of partnerships amongst all service providers involved in the delivery of preschool autism services to ensure a coordinated process for families and strong relationships amongst service providers/agencies.
Hours of Work:
75 hours bi-weekly
Your Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a healthrelated field required. Masterlevel preparation is an asset.
- Registered, or eligible for registration, with the appropriate licensing body in Nova Scotia required (if applicable)
- Minimum three (3) years of healthcarerelated experience
- Minimum two (2) years of leadership experience
- Knowledgeable in the concepts of programbased care and Patient/Family Centred Care
- Excellent time management, organization, and problemsolving skills.
- Ability to work as part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team.
- Advanced communication, presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to analyze recent and current trends (wait time, attendance management, workload, AEMS)
- Competencies in other languages an asset
