We need a bigger team to make that happen so we're looking for a Payroll & Benefits Specialist to support our Montreal/Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville location.

Important Note:_

  • Canfab is relocating from Montreal to Saint-BrunodeMontarville on the South Shore in the fall of 2023. If you are a local South Shore resident, this is a fantastic opportunity to work close to home at a completely new, spacious, and modern facility. You'd start the job at our Montreal plant, but it would then relocate to Saint-Bruno._

What you'd do:


As the Payroll & Benefit Specialist you'd play a crucial role in human resources and payroll administration by handling the paperwork for all pay and benefits of your fellow employees.

You'd liaise with HR, accounting, and other departments to ensure employee documentation is accurate and that all forms, activity, benefits, bonuses, and more are up to date.


What that really means:


  • Handling all admin of the payroll process.
  • Acting as the company point of contact for time, attendance, and payroll and responding to any employee inquiries.
  • Preparing reporting, remittance, and forms such as Records of Employment, terminations, WSIB, benefit remittances, and tax documents (T4 and RL1.)
  • Implementing wage adjustments, bonuses, and other special payments.
  • Administering Group Benefits Plan by assisting in its implementation, monitoring enrollments and terminations, and updating as required.
  • Ensuring employees' vacation/attendance accruals are accurately tracked.
  • Completing new hire, termination, retirement, probation, and change processes for all employees.
  • Maintaining all related filing systems.
  • Keeping up to date on all payroll and benefit issues/entitlements relevant to company policies and government legislation.
  • Providing support to the Human Resources department as needed.
  • Maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and discreteness because the information is sensitive and confidential.
  • Providing excellent service to employees.
  • Fulfilling other duties as assigned, related/unrelated to the scope mentioned above.

What skills, knowledge, and education you need:


  • Bilingualism: English and French are a must. Any other languages are a bonus.

Education:Payroll, accounting, and human resources.

Professional experience:Minimum 5 years of experience.

Detail oriented and organised:Ability to maintain accurate, organised records and systems.

Professionalism:Must be able to handle sensitive, confidential information with professionalism and confidentiality.

Proactive and capable:Must be able to work with little supervision, handle working under pressure, and willing to seek more tasks once the current one is complete.

Team player:Ability to work across multiple departments to support employees and organizational needs.

Software:Experience with Payworks a plus or similar payroll systems.
