    Description

    Responsible for the assembly of machines and related equipment in a manner which ensures high quality standards and on-time delivery commitments to customers.

    Key Responsibilities/Areas of Accountability:

    • Assemble, fit and install pre-fabricated parts and sub assemblies to form completed system
    • Read and work from engineering drawings and schematics to determine assembly procedures
    • Use hand and power tools as well as material handling equipment, such as cranes and forklifts, to fit and install parts and sub-assemblies
    • Review parts received for quality and accuracy to the bill of material
    • Complete tasks on schedule and according to established quality standards
    • Suggest modifications or changes to parts or procedures for continuous improvement initiatives
    • Responsible for reporting problems or issues as well as non-conformances
    • Demonstrate superior housekeeping in work area plant
    • Understand and follow all health and safety procedures including safe operation of equipment
    • Work effectively in a team with other technicians to achieve production and quality goals
    • Train other technicians or students as required

    Technical/Professional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Able to express ideas in individual and group situations and able to work collaboratively in a team
    • Technically capable of performing single disciplines in hydraulics, mechanics or electrical assemblies
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and/or engineering drawings
    • Proficient using hand tools
    • Ability to identify and assess problem situations.
    • Demonstrated ability to consistently maintain a high productivity level
    • Demonstrated commitment and flexibility to achieve business goals
    • Available to work a variety of shifts
    • Ability to work in a safe manner and adhere to the rules and regulations under the Health and Safety Act

    Qualifications:

    Education

    • High School and/or a post-secondary education in mechanics, hydraulics and/or electrical or certificate in related studies.

    Related Experience

    • 2 – 5 years relevant work experience in manufacturing.
