Job Summary
The Human Resources Generalist will support the day to day operations of the human resources functions and duties. This individual is responsible for supporting all human resource activities and accepting projects from the Human Resource Manager.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage STD/LTD employer forms and maintain program
  • Long term illness claim management including home/hospital visits
  • Organize and lead monthly/quarterly RTM, including followup
  • Lead return to work programs for all nonoccupational illnesses/injuries, including writing letters to medical professionals and liaise with related representatives
  • Maintain current knowledge of legislation and ensure company's practices and procedures are in compliance
  • Coordinate staffing needs with production team; establish gaps and determine when new team members are required
  • Oversee Human Resources Assistant, and Human Resources Coop Student
  • Manage and maintain job descriptions, updating as necessary (annually, at a minimum)
  • Supports health and safety team with occupational modified work program
  • Directs preparation and distribution of written and verbal information to inform team members of benefits programs such as insurance plans, RRSP/DPSP, paid time off, etc. through newsletter articles and team meetings
  • Complete orientations for salary team members
  • Support Summer Student Program (SJS) through Service Canada, including grants
  • Support succession planning activity
  • Vuteq policies revise/write company policies as required including communication plant wide, including WFN (Work Force Now) & Vuteqnet
  • Support production team with disciplinary procedures
  • Corporate Social Responsibility including Ethical Labour Practice
  • Assist with team member conflict and resolution
  • Advisor of Quarterly Newsletter
  • Support HR Manager as required, maintaining confidentiality at all times, including special projects

Job Qualifications

Education_**- College diploma/University degree

  • Member of HRPAO, maintain CHRP designation through HR educational events
  • Human Resource Management (HRM) Certificate

Experience_**- Experience working with Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS)

  • Experience working with Payroll systems

Skills and Abilities_**- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations

  • Ability to write routine reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to effectively listen to team member complaints and resourcefully resolve any issues that arise
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule
