About the Position:


A Production Control Technician is responsible to take care of programming for various CNC equipment, participate in programming for the robotic welding areas, assist in development of welding procedures and welding audits and support production control efforts with regard to scheduling.

Hours of Work: 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday to Thursday, 7:00 AM - 12:00 PM Friday


What will you be doing:


  • Prioritize workload based on production requirements and work within allotted hours and budget.
  • Program robotic welding cell, python and Laser table for part production
  • Work closely with machine operators to resolve programming issues and drive efficiency improvements.
  • In Conjunction with welders, quality, manufacturing and our retained welding engineer, develop, trial, test and qualify new required weld procedures.
  • Perform random weld procedure audits to ensure internal compliance to weld procedures, ensuring all essential variables are as required.
  • Prepare weld procedure packages for clients as required.
  • Have working knowledge of CSA W47.1, W47.2 and AWS D1.1, D
  • Familiar with PQR, WPS and WPDS
  • Practical knowledge of NDE, MPI and LPI
  • Evaluate welding processes to improve quality and quantity e.g. Pulse procedures, auto tig for pipe etc.
  • Operate and troubleshoot robotic welding cell as required.
  • Work with technical staff to develop welding procedures as required.
  • Assist in the creation of standard practices and procedures for robotic cell operation.
  • Train robotic cell operators (fitters), ensuring proper fit up techniques and tacking techniques to achieve successful welding during robot operation.
  • Ability to evaluate weld quality to ensure suitable welds are applied the first time in preparation for quality inspection.
  • Work with production control team to support schedule development, maintenance of the schedules are reporting on schedule attainment.
  • Work with engineering to package drawings/BOMs and other correspondence for shop use
  • Function as part of the Research and Development team as it pertains to welding development or equipment purchases to gain skill and/or efficiencies.
  • Ensure compliance to Cambridge Pro Fab Inc.'s Quality Assurance Manual.
  • Accurately document and maintain information in written or electronic form.
  • Perform quality checks as prescribed and report issues to Manager.
  • Analyze and interpret information obtained from measuring and recording instruments.
  • Comprehend, communicate and present technical information effectively.
  • Work and assist other workers in continuously improving safety.
  • Note any problems or potential hazards to your manager that may cause personal injury or property damage, delays in production shipments, or that may affect the quality of manufactured product.
  • Report to your Manager any contravention to the OHSA or other regulations, including Cambridge Pro Fab Inc.'s policies and procedure.
  • Follow proper Lockout (Zero Energy) procedures.
  • Abide by the Occupational Health and Safety Act. and all applicable legislation and Standards and follow Cambridge Pro Fab Inc. policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the following: SR&ED, look for government funding, new plant design.
  • Perform any other tasks that he/she or the manager feels is required to better the company.

Requirements:


  • Computer Literacy: Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Solid Works, Octopuz, ProNest, VersaFAB
  • Excellent communication, technical writing and organization skills
  • Ability to work well with others and independently
  • Proven time management skills and strong attention to detail
  • Works well under pressure
  • Extended hours may be required from time to time
  • Travel to other CPF locations, suppliers or contractors
