Description
Based in Richmond, BC, on the beautiful west coast of Canada, Ideon Technologies ) uses the energy from supernova explosions to image down to 1km beneath the Earth's surface. A spin-off from TRIUMF (Canada's particle physics lab), Ideon is a world pioneer in cosmic-ray muon tomography.

The team developed a subsurface intelligence platform that integrates proprietary detectors, imaging systems, inversion technologies, and artificial intelligence to provide x-ray-like visibility underground.

By transforming muon data into reliable 3D density maps, Ideon helps geologists identify, characterize, and monitor mineral deposits with confidence.

This reduces risk and cost of traditional methods, while saving time, optimizing return, and minimizing environmental impact across the mining value chain.

In turn, this is helping accelerate the world's transition to low
- impact mining and transform how companies find the critical minerals required to power the global shift to clean energy.

The Role

We are seeking an on call, part-time
Field Deployment Technician who will be responsible for installing, removing, and troubleshooting our subsurface imaging detectors on customer mine sites primarily throughout North America.

Ideally, due to the proximity to customer sites, we are looking for an individual located near

This is the perfect opportunity for someone who has some geological, geophysical, or mining engineering education and is keen to spend time in the field, conducting surveys, and maneuvering high tech equipment in a variety of outdoor environments.

You will report to our Director, Deployments and work in a team setting with Project Geophysicists.

As part of the role, you will:

  • Travel to customer sites within Canada and the United States; there may also be some international travel.
  • Work in remote locations and on mine sites in various geographical regions and weather conditions.
  • Operate cooperatively in a small team to install and recover state oftheart geophysics imaging sensors, both underground and on land down boreholes.
  • Improvise on the spot to make things work in complex situations, often with limited resources close at hand.
  • Assist with planning logistics for upcoming field deployments.
  • Prepare and maintain various field equipment.
  • Be a strong adopter and supporter of quality and health & safety practices.
  • Act as a face of Ideon on customer sites.

Priorities in the first few months will include:

  • Thoroughly understanding our technology
  • what it can do, its limitations, and its potential.
  • Familiarizing yourself with our field operating procedures and equipment terminology.
  • Getting up to date on health and safety certificates and our customer site orientations.
  • Playing an active role in developing our onsite field culture.

Success in the role looks like:

  • Showing solid teamwork skills by lending a hand where you can, from small to big tasks.
  • Identifying and presenting options for improvement and streamlining procedures.
  • Becoming a skilled, resourceful, and creative field "MacGyver" (can solve problems with resources available nearby).
