THE OPPORTUNITY


Reporting to the VP, Talent & Services, the Talent & Payroll Coordinator will wear many hats to keep our team on track.

The key responsibilities will be split between payroll and supporting all other people-related functions, so you'll need to be able to shift priorities quickly on any given day.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Prepare, review, and edit a wide variety of correspondence, reports and communications that at times are time sensitive and/or confidential.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to conduct and support fullcycle recruitment: job postings, screen resumes and conduct prescreening interviews, conduct telephone reference checks, etc.
  • Provide hiring managers with appropriate advice and guidance on employee related issues such as interpreting employment standards, company promises or other applicable regulations.
  • Develop relationships with recruiters, schools, and any other party that can help advance our recruitment efforts.
  • Responsible for full cycle biweekly payroll for salaried and hourly employees.
  • Prepare Record of Employment and manage all T4 reporting requirements.
  • Oversee the vacation tracking system and ensure reconciliation to payroll records.
  • Plan administrator for benefits including maintenance of online database and reconciliation of benefit deductions.
  • Assist employees with payroll related questions.
  • Prepare annual compensation statements and annual bonus letters.
  • Manage information in payroll and HRIS systems, including database, electronic and paper files.
  • Develop, update and document payroll operating procedures and practices.
  • Support and provide training on timekeeping processes and procedures.
  • Manage EHT calculations and annual filings.
  • Assist with administration of WCB (including premiums) and injury management.
  • Participate in year end payroll activities as required and work collaboratively with the finance and accounting department on related duties.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

Required experience/qualifications:


  • Postsecondary education in human resources and knowledge of related legislation.
  • Payroll designation (PCP or CPM).
  • Minimum of four years' experience in payroll position.
  • Previous experience with recruitment in construction industry an asset.
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint and Teams.
  • Able to work under time constraints to ensure deadlines are met, without compromising attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Able to handle confidential information ethically and professionally.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at a time and to establish priorities for own workload based upon need for immediate action, work objectives and schedules.
  • Adaptability in the face of change.
  • CPHR certification considered an asset.

Additional requirements:
