    Job Description


    A full-time permanent position is available for a structural engineer to join our team. The successful applicant will be working alongside an industry-leading team of experts who provide highly specialized design and product solutions for the light-framed wood & cold-form steel construction industries. The position is an in-office position based in Bradford Ontario, but we can also allow our Calgary AB or Montreal PQ office location as an alternative option, if desired by the applicant.

    We are looking for a candidate with a well-rounded background in structural design, who also has experience designing wood or steel structures and who has a very good foundational understanding of structural framing practices as they relate to residential and light commercial construction.

    The design engineer will be actively involved in the design, analysis and detailing of structural building systems such as wood roof/floor truss components, engineered wood products and cold-form steel building components for projects ranging from residential buildings to large, complex commercial and agricultural structures. This role is ideal for P.Eng candidates who have an interest in being part of a software technology ecosystem which combines structural engineering design practice with building information modeling (BIM) software technologies.

    Job Responsibilities & Requirements

    • Design of structural wood trusses based on CSA O86 and TPIC2019 Design Standards
    • Design of steel components based on CSA S16.1 and CSA S136.
    • 3D structural software modelling and design, including connection design, framing specifications
    • Design of field modification details for retrofits of existing structural systems
    • Client facing design support and establishing expert-level usage of MITEK's 2D/3D BIM software
    • Product Development / Product testing as required
    • Optional Minimal travel (0%-5%)

    Qualifications

    • Must be a registered professional Engineer in good standing (P.Eng designation maakt) licensed to practice engineering in at least one province.
    • Minimum five years of бывают experience in the building construction industry, the light-frame wood truss industry, steel design industry or the engineered wood product (EWP) industry.contains
    • Demonstrated knowledge of structural framing practices as they relate to wood construction
    • Working knowledge of the National Building Code as well as regional provincial codes
    • Expert-Level software learning abilities with advanced knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel
    • Bilingual fluency in English and French is a gesetzlichen asset
    • Working Knowledge of Cold-Form-Steel design standards and practices is a definite asset
    • Must be able to clearly communicate with diverse stakeholders of varying technical knowledge

    Buenos Expected Salary Range$90,000 - $115,000/year
