The Permitting Solutions Office (PSO) drives new approaches to integrating the Natural Resource Sector through changes to provincial legislation, policy, tools, and systems to support and transform decision making, processes, and authorizations across the province.

The PSO is focused on moving towards collaborative solutions in partnership with all Natural Resource Ministries (NRMs) and the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MOTI), offering opportunities to learn and grow personally and professionally.


Working at the Provincial level, the Natural Resource Specialist provides front line service, based on knowledge of the various Natural Resource Ministries and other agency's legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures to clients of the provincial government.

The Natural Resource Specialist will be focused on the priority of Connectivity in BC.

For this priority project, the PSO is focused on driving natural resource permitting solutions required to improve cross-ministry permitting coordination, increase process transparency, and identify efficiencies across the permitting regime to support connecting all households in BC to high-speed internet by March 31, 2027.

This target is reflected in BC's Declaration Act Action Plan and the StrongerBC Economic Plan.

Job Requirements:


  • A bachelor's degree in a natural resource management related field (e.g., Resource Management, Forestry, Biology, Agrology, Geography) and a minimum of 2 years related experience in a resource management related field. Registered, or eligible for registration, with the British Columbia professional association as required by the specialty area. (e.g.
, Association of Forest Professionals, Institute of Agrologists, Engineers and Geoscientists BC (Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of the Province of British Columbia))Preference may be given to applicants with:


  • Experience using provincial natural resource tools such as iMap, Gator, ParcelMap BC.
  • Previous experience in provincial authorizations (i.e. Land Act, Heritage Conservation Act, Water Sustainability Act, etc).
  • Experience working within a virtual team
  • Experience and/or understanding of spatial analysis (GIS).
A bachelor's degree in a natural resource management related fieldWillingness statement(s):
