***: In support of the mission and vision of the Multicultural Council of Windsor & Essex County (MCC), the Accommodations Case Manager will be responsible for welcoming Government Assisted Refugees and the provision of temporary accommodation, ensuring client safety within the MCC Resettlement Assistance Program for Newcomers to Canada, as funded by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Post-Secondary Diploma and/or Degree in Human Services, Education, Social Work or equivalent and a minimum three years of relevant experience
  • Strong knowledge and experience with issues related to diverse populations, including immigrants and refugees
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the area agencies serving immigrants, their programs and services, current immigration issues and resources available in the community
  • Experience with case management and coordination including but not limited to: handling case assignments, drafting settlement plans, reviewing progress and determining closure
  • Coordinating and providing care that is safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and client centric
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing strong and effective partnerships with community groups, service providers and other key stakeholders to develop responses to community issues and build on community strengths and resources
  • Demonstrated group facilitation and presentation skills, including workshop planning, delivery and evaluation
  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills are essential
  • Administrative, planning, facilitation, written and oral communication skills are essential
  • Strong digital and computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office is a must

Must have the ability to travel to off-site locations in a timely and expedient manner as required. If method of travel is by vehicle, a current valid Driver's License is required

    flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends
  • Fluency in a second language is an asset
  • Must possess a valid vulnerable sector police clearance, renewed every 3 years

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:


GENERAL

  • Welcomes Government Assisted Refugees (GARs) upon arrival at the Windsor Airport or temporary accommodation
  • Arranges transportation from the Windsor Airport to the temporary accommodation hotel or house
  • Arranges temporary accommodation for clients in both hotels and temporary accommodation houses, ensuring clients' safety
  • Ensures the temporary accommodation meets acceptable standards and support their transitioning to permanent housing
  • Provides technology equipment to clients for accessing services virtually
  • Provides mobility equipment to clients as required
  • Provides financial support for food and incidentals to clients during their stay in temporary accommodation
  • Addresses any issues related to temporary accommodation hotels and houses as they arise
  • Addresses clients' needs as they arise, including emergencies after hours or weekends
  • Assists clients in the checkout process on moving day
  • Coordinate the access to program services based on needs assessment, working with other MCC RAP staff, promoting effective and efficient utilization of the organization's resources, such as utilizing language aids/interpreters/volunteers as necessary, links with other staff and other MCC Programs as necessary
  • Maintains an uptodate inventory of technology and mobility equipment
  • Works collaboratively across teams to address clients' needs including facilitating interprogram client care conferences to review client's settlement and integration process
  • Provide information, orientation on onetoone basis or in group sessions as required
  • Provide life skills/enhanced orientation as needed
  • Conducts continuous assessment and monitoring of the client's settlement process and the achievements of goals
  • Evaluate client's satisfaction and quality of service provided
  • Enhances a relationship of trust with the client/family to maximize their ability to make informed decisions and achieve both shortterm and longterm goals
  • Maintain clients' files and program statistics; maintain and record services delivered to clients; document all calls and client visits; prepare and submit statistical and progress reports to the supervisor as required
  • Prepares and submits monthly report and/or other reports as required
  • Keep the immediate supervisor up to date with all issues and concerns with the program, and informed of all program activities
  • Participate in regular program, team and organization meetings as required
  • Attend community meetings as required
  • Attend professional development opportunities as required
  • Other duties as assigned
