    WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

    The primary purpose of this role is to be a Lead Software Developer within the FX post-trade team. The FX post-trade systems are a critical backbone of RBC's FX trading & bring exposure to multiple groups both front & back.
    The candidate will provide leadership as part of a global team to implement, enhance and support the FX trade management systems.

    WHAT WILL YOU DO?


    • Position reports to Global Head of FX Post-Trade in Toronto.

    • Work closely with business sponsors to understand their requirements and architect, design and execute technical solutions.

    • Act as the senior lead within Toronto.

    • Identify business, technology and people risks associated with a solution.

    • High standard to ensure proper quality is maintained.

    • Lead the team & assist with 2nd line support as necessary.

    • Advises on key design and implementation decisions within FX.

    • Decisions made alongside FX technology management team.

    • Position reports to RATS Team Lead in Toronto.

    • Strong partnerships with colleagues in QA, support, analysis, trading, and sales.

    • Partner with colleagues across all front-office and downstream development teams.

    WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?


    • Multithreaded skills & expert use of current C / C++.

    • Practical knowledge in Sybase (both design and implementation) or equivalent.

    • Capital markets Industry experience.

    • Solid Multi-threading experience.

    • Knowledge of MQ and Solace/RMDS/RV.

    • Solid understanding of Unix (and some scripting languages on Unix platform).

    • Experience working with multiple dev teams.

    • Ability to understand the requirements based on incomplete/high level documentation.

    • Solid experience working with production support teams.

    • Experience with 'Agile' style development methods.

    • Significant experience developing, maintaining, and deploying high-performance, resilient, global applications.

    • Design abilities, which will involve building designing and deploying managed and unmanaged solutions.
