Job Duties/Qualifications, Skills and Abilities(QSA):


  • Job Duties
    Job Duties
  • Assist instructors and researchers, both internal and external to the program, in the preparation of materials and equipment used in the lab/shop and provide support during the lab/shop delivery and applied research activities.
  • Ensure tools and shop/lab equipment are maintained in serviceable condition, test and monitor equipment and instruments, and conduct repairs.
  • Maintain system of safe disposal of hazardous waste and other materials and ensure safe storage and labeling that meets Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) standards.
  • Ensure security of labs, stores and equipment.
  • Research and purchase supplies and equipment for the operation of the program(s).
  • Use and maintain inventory management system.
  • Provide technical and software support for equipment.
  • Update and monitor safety practices and procedures in labs.
  • Install/set up/ remove tools and equipment in labs.
  • Devise and follow quality assurance procedures for workplace tasks.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)

  • 1. Technologist diploma in programrelevant field or equivalent apprenticelevel combination of education and experience.
  • Member of/or eligible for certification with relevant certifying body, such as Technology Professionals Saskatchewan (TPS) as an Applied Science Technologist or Certified Technician.
  • Experience with program-relevant software and equipment and their integration,
  • Effective interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills including planning, scheduling, and prioritizing workloads in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong data and records management skills with a digital focus.
  • Effective problem-solving skills with strict attention to detail.
  • Ability to function as an effective team member in an ever-changing environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with many diverse groups, including other departments within Saskatchewan Polytechnic, staff, faculty, and industry stakeholders.
