    About This Opportunity

    A family practice clinic in the community of Antigonish has an opportunity for 1 or more family physician to join their team of physicians. The clinic also has a fully integrated EMR (MedAccess). Opportunity exists to participate in a variety of other areas that fit your professional interests and skill set including, but not limited to, emergency medicine, hospitalist, OR assist, addictions medicine, primary care and community clinics, obstetrics, etc. Physicians have the opportunity to engage in research and/or teaching positions with Dalhousie University as Clinical Field Assessors, and Preceptors. The family practice clinic is centrally located in downtown Antigonish, and is only minutes away from the local St. Martha's Regional Hospital (SMRH). SMRH is approximately two hours from the region's tertiary care centre, QEII Health Sciences Centre, and the tertiary care pediatric facility, the IWK Health Centre, which provides neonatal support. is approximately a 90 bed facility with more than 60 physicians practicing in a variety of medical specialties and sub-specialties.

    This facility serves a population of nearly 70, from Antigonish, Guysborough, and surrounding communities. Family physicians are joined by colleagues in:

    • anesthesiology
    • dermatology
    • obstetrics/gynecology
    • internal medicine (general and sub-specialty who cover the 6 bed ICU)
    • emergency medicine
    • geriatrics
    • psychiatry
    • pediatrics
    • hospitalists
    • plastic surgery
    • ophthalmology
    • otolaryngology
    • general surgery
    • radiology (U/S, CT, MRI, ECHO)
    • palliative care
    • visiting oncology and neurology

    Community based care is further supported by a men's and women's health centre, chronic pain clinic, methadone clinic, and youth clinic at the local high school.     Responsibilities

    • Duties include full scope of practice as a family physician providing care to patients within the eastern zone and participating in call
    • the physician will be responsible to the Zone Department Head of Family Practice for their professional responsibilities and quality of practice
    • will operate within the Medical Staff Bylaws of the Nova Scotia Health Authority

    • full-time

    Qualifications

    • eligible for licensure with the (CPSNS)
    • eligible for certification with the (CFPC)
    • membership with the (CMPA)
