    As a Laboratory Technician, you will provide a wide range of support to deliver quality analytical services in Water Quality & Regulatory Assurance (WQRA). Primary duties include:
  • Manage sample integrity by utilizing Lab Information Management System (LIMS) operating and maintaining online, field, and analytical lab instruments.
  • Communicate with plant operators, field crews, and contractors.
  • Analyze water, wastewater, and stormwater samples for a variety of regulatory parameters, such as: pH, nutrients, alkalinity, and solids as an example.
  • Follow laboratory quality practices and maintain accurate records in accordance with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO)/ International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC standard.
  • Perform other laboratory support duties, such as: solution preparation, cleaning glassware, ordering chemical supplies, preparing sample bottles and collecting samples.
  • Qualifications
  • A completed 2 year technical diploma in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Environmental Sciences, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in an environmental or water laboratory accredited to ISO17025 standards.
  • A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent), with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending OR; a valid Graduated Driver's License (GDL) with no more than 4 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending.
  • Proven organizational, analytical and communication skills and intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office are essential for success in this role.
  • Experience with advanced analytical instrumentation and treatment plant process related analyses would be considered assets.
  • Working Conditions: This position is exposed to chemicals, compressed gases and infectious micro-organisms. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required.
