Duties:


In this master's project, the student must evaluate the impacts of releases of copper-based solutions on the agri-ecosystem on commercial farms.

The project includes farm visits to collect soil, plant, manure, water and milk samples and laboratory testing at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada.


Work environment:

The student will be required to work in the laboratory to perform analyses and collect samples from dairy farms. The student will have to visit farms to collect samples. The student will also be required to do computer work for statistical analysis and dissertation writing. The student will be expected to work in a team with other students and research assistants.

Education:


Currently enrolled or will be enrolled by the date of appointment in a Master's program in a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in agronomy, biology or other natural sciences fields.


  • Note: Due to the nature and duration of the project, you must be able to join the team on May 1, 2024, September 1, 2024, or on January 1, 2025 at the latest. The duration of the project will be two years.
Degree equivalency


Experience:

Experience* working with farm animals and with managing a dairy farm.

Experience* with the Office suite (Microsoft Word, Excel).

  • In the context of student recruitment in the federal public service, experience may be acquired through studies, work experience or volunteer activities.

Conditions of employment:


Reliability Status security clearance - Each student hired through the Research Affiliate Program (RAP) must meet the security requirements of the position as a condition of employment and, therefore will be asked by the hiring organization to complete security-relevant documents.

The applicant must have a Class 5 Quebec driver's licence or a provincial or territorial equivalent.
