    Your Opportunity We are seeking qualified individuals for the role of Procurement Buyer & Expeditor. As Buyer & Expeditor, you will be a core member of our Supply Chain Team. The Buyer & Expeditor is a diversified procurement position within Tacora that requires experience and flexibility between procurement, expediting, administration, and warehouse inventory levels support to assure that our mining operations have all parts, equipment, materials, and services required to sustain and improve iron ore production. As a Tacora Buyer & Expeditor, you will represent Tacora, and therefore Tacora's values, in developing and maintaining a "partnering" relationship with suppliers built on fairness and trust.

    Please note that this position will be 5/2 (Mon-Fri).

    Job Responsibilities:

  • Make safety first and foremost in all activities/deliverables.
  • Sourcing, negotiation, competitive bidding, contract / PO preparation (Ellipse), PO issuance, tracking, reporting, expediting, monitoring, approving payments and closeout.
  • Recommending and implementing purchasing strategies.
  • Producing bid analysis to evaluate supplier proposals from a commercial perspective.
  • Utilizing appropriate negotiations and purchasing techniques to achieve optimum total cost of ownership and/or best value, including, but not limited to, quality, price, warranty, delivery, and service.
  • Evaluating bids, awards contracts, and purchase orders.
  • Developing standards for new products or services.
  • Maintaining contact with vendors.
  • Maintains comprehensive descriptions of available products and current prices.
  • Attaining terms and conditions (T&C's) which are favorable to Tacora and reduce the company's risk exposure.
  • Collaborating purchasing w/ customers, w/ stakeholders, w/suppliers, and w/warehouse to drive improvements in supply chain management, service delivery, and cost.
  • Overseeing the procurement life cycle, from sourcing to delivery of all Goods, ensuring compliance with Tacora's Safety, Supply Chain Standards, Corporate Governance including Tacora's T&C's, and Regional Agreements (IBA's);
  • Participating in daily meetings and weekly stakeholder meetings.
  • Maintaining detailed procurement files in SharePoint and within each PO record in Ellipse.
  • Maintaining schedule and milestones for procurement deliverables.
  • Coordinating with Suppliers and Accounts Payable to assure completed services and delivered materials are invoiced and paid on time.
  • Running various expediting reports and analyzing data with strong attention to detail.
  • Coordinating supplier site inspections as required.
  • Maintaining procurement and supplier data within Ellipse database.
  • Working in collaboration with the planners, reliability, engineering, operations, mine, maintenance, and other core stakeholders to assure purchase requests are detailed and accurate enough to achieve successful procurement and timely delivery.
  • Interfacing with Warehouse Team in inventory movement and clean-up of inventory data.
  • Aiding in the update of critical spares including stock descriptions, records, source lists, special procurement type, min/max, location changes, deletions, and surplus.
  • Looking after opportunities for continuous improvement, process improvement activities for Inventory management.
  • Other duties that may be assigned as required.
  • Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must be conscious of potential safety issues at all times.
  • Minimum 5 years relevant procurement experience in mining or similar industry.
  • Should have strong knowledge in naming conventions, with a background in parts terminology in the mining sector.
  • Strong Skills in Procurement fundamentals: buying, contracts, expediting, negotiating, and problem-solving.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment.
  • Sound understanding of procurement practices and policies.
  • Experience with transportation/logistics.
  • Experience with expediting, including working with suppliers to compress delivery schedules.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be flexible and responsive to changing demands.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable with a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent work ethic, and attendance record.
  • Ariba, SAP, ERP, Oracle, and/or Ellipse experience is a must.
  • Experience in replenishing stock items and sourcing new non-stock items.
  • Experience in working with and supporting warehouse requirements.
  • Strong ability to communicate clearly and effectively, written, spoken, and interpersonal.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel / Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to multitask, in both capacities of handling multiple PO's with coordinating deliveries with many Suppliers and be able to carry out multiple tasks with scalability as needed.
  • Must be a self-starter and motivated working under minimal supervision.
  • Must be growth-orientated (both personal, and company growth focused).
  • Must be willing to receive and act on management directives.
  • Must be outspoken and be a team player.
  • Works productively in a high-pressure environment.
  • Must have good time-management skills while acknowledging added value exercises.
  • Must have the ability to work alone, at times, and have good problem-solving skills
  • Education & Experience:

  • Extensive Procurement and Expediting. Experience in the Mining Sector carries greater weight than education, though a combination of both is preferred
  • Knowledge in negotiations, general contract law, and procurement principles are essential to this role
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office products required
