  • Prospects continuously for new clients through a variety of techniques such as cold calling and networking events, both in person and virtually.
  • Maintains a current list of all prospects in a database, including accurate contact information, notes from conversations, and other relevant details.
  • Analyzes the local market to identify market opportunities and prospective companies, and conducts competitive analysis to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in the marketplace.
  • Liaises with internal teams to develop solutions to satisfy prospective customer needs, and works closely with marketing teams to ensure a cohesive approach to business development.
  • Cultivates strong relationships with direct customers and partners to ensure business is grown and retained, and proactively seeks feedback to continuously improve service delivery.
  • Forecasts sales figures and sets revenue targets for the business, and reports on completed, current, and upcoming projects on a quarterly basis.
  • Creates project scopes and ensures that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of the customer.
  • Provide updates on business development activities and contribute to the overall vision and growth of the business.
  • Maintains accurate documentation relating to project development, including contracts, proposals, and other relevant materials.
  • Adheres to established goals and objectives, reporting guidelines consistently, completing all projects assigned in an accurate and thorough manner.
  • Provides remote support as required, and is available for weekend project implementation or consultation as needed.
  • Troubleshoots issues during and after projects, and evaluates and improves processes as required.
  • Utilizes relevant technology and software tools, such as customer relationship management (CRM) software, sales automation tools, and marketing analytics platforms, to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensures client expectations are met and exceeded in all aspects of service delivery, and actively seeks opportunities to upsell and crosssell products and services.
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Summary of Qualifications & Requirements:


  • Positivityinfused business development style with the ability to persuade and negotiate well with others.
  • 35 years of experience in Business Development.
  • Digital Security and Low Voltage industry experience is considered an asset.
  • University Degree/Diploma is considered an asset.
  • Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy; prioritize, organize and followup; be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment.
  • The Business Development Manager works closely with Grey Owl, Cap EV, Electrical, IT leaders and business peers.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Demonstrates an entrepreneurial spirit, networking skills, and is seeking to grow and expand the business.
  • Demonstrates initiative, personal awareness, professionalism, integrity, professional appearance, and exercises confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in using MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.).
