Who you are: Geotab is actively seeking a Product Designer to lay the groundwork for design systems and methodologies that will enhance our array of applications. Your expertise in product design will be pivotal in our mission to create cohesive end-to-end experiences across responsive web and native mobile platforms. If you love technology and are keen to join a data-driven company — we would love to hear from you What you'll do: The Product Designer at Geotab will lead the charge in design, interaction, and user experience initiatives for our suite of applications, including MyAdmin, MyGeotab, and Geotab Drive. This role serves as a crucial link among design, product, and engineering teams, engaging in research, construction, iteration, and enhancement of user experiences. You will be responsible for setting up the foundational design systems and practices that will empower our teams to make significant contributions to the functionality and aesthetics across Geotab's application ecosystem.

    How you'll make an impact:

  • Assist with research, ideation, and creation of our application interactions.
  • Partner with UX Research, Product Management, Development, and Data Science Team members during design and development to take broad conceptual ideas, understand user needs, and lead the design process into actionable designs and prototypes.
  • Working through all stages of the design process, from gathering insights, mapping user flows and wireframes, conducting testing and validation and ultimately building for user value.
  • Conduct interviews, and collect feedback from end users and subject matter experts.
  • Think about accessibility at every stage of work.
  • Establish standards for building products that will bring delight and insight to customer's every day jobs.
  • Clearly and empathetically communicate with all relevant stakeholders to ensure standards are consistently understood, met, and maintained.
  • Define the right interaction model and evaluate its success.
  • Ensure designs, code, and animations work in different browsers on different devices.
  • Illustrate design ideas using storyboards, process flows, and sitemaps.
  • Design graphic user interface elements, like menus, tabs, and widgets.
  • Build page navigation buttons and search fields.
  • Conduct layout adjustments based on user feedback.
  • What you'll bring to this role:

  • Relevant Bachelor's Diploma/Degree or relevant industry experience.
  • Degree specialization in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical or Electronics Engineering or any other related field.
  • 3-5 years of relevant industry experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in an individual contributor role on a product, experience or service design team.
  • Strong portfolio that demonstrates experience and understanding of visual dynamics and gestalt principles.
  • Deep knowledge of product design, including common interaction patterns used and associated trade-offs, and best practices for responsive web applications.
  • Experience collaborating closely with product management, engineering, and research.
  • Proficiency in UI design and using tools like Figma, Sketch, InVision, Principle, etc.
  • Ability to lead all aspects of the user-centered design process from conception to completion.
  • Communicate complex ideas, goals, and problems in a way that is accessible even to those unfamiliar with the project.
  • Must have the flexibility to adapt to growing technology and market demands.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to write clear guidelines and documentation, including ability to develop and deliver presentations with a strong narrative.
  • Strong interpersonal relationship building skills.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong team-player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
  • Technical competence using software programs, including but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
  • Be comfortable working closely with engineering and front-end developers.
  • Have strong systems-thinking, problem solving and negotiation skills.
