Position Description


The manager of the Customs Compliance Team is responsible for setting up and managing a cross functional team to standardize and support processes throughout the regions in Canada.

The compliance services include, but not limited to tariff and database management, B2 processing, management of Free Trade Agreement requirements within customs systems.


Principal Accountabilities

  • Direct and coordinate activities of the Customs Compliance Team to support the following processes throughout the regions in Canada:
  • Tariff Classifications
  • Database Management
  • Operational transactional services in support of:
  • CUSMA programs
  • B2 processes
  • National Customs Rulings
  • Special projects
  • Automation initiatives


  • Development of SOP

  • Other projects as assigned
  • Manage staff, preparing work schedules and assigning specific duties.
  • Review productivity reports, KPI reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas needing process improvement.
  • Supporting operations, sales and consulting teams to ensure compliance within scope, and supporting efforts to enhance client relations.
  • Jointly with Schenker's HR department, determine staffing requirements, and interview, hire and train new employees, or oversee those personnel processes
  • Other duties as required.

Knowledge and Skills
Years Operational and Supervisory Experience

  • 510 Years of Customs Brokerage experience
  • Post Secondary graduates (College or University)
  • Strong organizational abilities and ability to prioritize workload
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work with mínimal supervision
  • Sound judgment/know when to escalate

Job Types:

Experience:

Customs Manager: 5 years (required)


Licence/Certification:

  • CCS Designation (required)
