Clerical Assistant (Participant Pool Coodinator) - Psychology and Health Studies:

Primary Purpose:
To provide administrative support to the research Participant Pool in the Department of Psychology and Health Studies.


Nature of Work:
Reporting to Dr.

Valerie Thompson in the Department of Psychology and Health Studies, College of Arts and Science, this position provides administrative support for the research Participant Pool.

The incumbent will work closely with researchers and participants to ensure accurate management of the pool. Accurate exchange of information and the referral of issues and information to others is required.


Typical Duties or Accountabilities:


  • Managing the Participant Pool website, which includes opening and closing the website to students each term
  • Monitoring and maintaining the Participant Pool website, which includes ensuring timeslots are posted and course credits are properly allocated while the Pool is open
  • Creating accounts on the Participant Pool website, for both the participants and the researchers
  • Approving studies on the Participant Pool website so that researchers can test participants
  • Managing article summaries, which includes selecting the articles, marking the assignments, and granting course credits for proper article summaries
  • Providing Professors with any course credits earned on the Participant Pool each term
  • General assistance to both researchers and participants for the Participant Pool

Education:
Completion of Grade 12 as well as academic experience in Psychology.


Experience:
Working in a University academic environment. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Professional or Kofax PDF. Experience using SONA systems. Experience with website design and maintenance.


Skills:

Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and time management skills; demonstrated ability to work independently with mínimal supervision; proven ability to work effectively as a team member or demonstrated ability to work collaboratively or as part of a group or a team; proficient typing and computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Professional or Kofax PDF; and attention to detail.
