OVERVIEW

THIS IS A 16 MONTH CONTRACT POSITION


This position promotes and preserves the rich history of Redpath Sugar, primarily through the collections management of materials maintained by the Redpath Sugar Museum, as well as engages with various internal and external parties in our community to support our marketing and communications strategies.


DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees collections management activities of a materially diverse historical collection.
  • Develops inventories, finding aids, and database material to increase access and use of museum collections.
  • Digitizes historical material; manages and further develops physical and digital museum collections and their associated records.
  • Facilitates the appraisal of museum collections, as required.
  • Conducts and documents ongoing historical research; stays up to date on business happenings, industry trends, breaking news, and other scientific, historical, or cultural developments related to the sugar, agricultural, and food industries.
  • Provides cultural information and expertise to assist with marketing strategies for various media channels, including print, social media, TV, radio and general inquiries.
  • Represents Redpath priorities on communications and promotion at various external committees and associations, as required.

WORK EXPERIENCES

  • 15 years of experience in a museum, archive, art gallery, or similar work setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of collections management best practices, including, but not limited to, collections care, documentation, and digitization.
  • Proven written and verbal customer service, communication, reporting, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop, Microsoft Office, and SAP

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in Museum Studies, Archives & Records Management, History, or a related discipline.
