    Description

    Your Opportunity:

    Community Oral Health seeks an enthusiastic individual who enjoys working with a dynamic team. The Administrative Support II will join the Calgary Zone oral health team, comprised of dental hygienists, dental assistants and administrative staff, working together with those team members, as well as independently. The main role of this position will be to provide data entry, clerical and related support for school dental services outlined in the provincial Oral Health Action Plan (OHAP), which focuses on the most vulnerable in the community. Along with this, the Administrative Support II may help with other areas of the program, such as preschool, adults/seniors, and supporting overall team work. The Administrative Support II will support services for individuals, families and groups in a variety of settings, such as schools, community health clinics, and office settings. With the variety of settings comes a variety of work – some days with quite varied tasks and others with repetitive tasks. Service delivery may require lots of walking, climbing flights of stairs, sitting, standing, and/or bending for long periods of time, awkward and repetitive movements. Service delivery involves transporting supplies and equipment. The Administrative Support II will be required to pack, lift, move and transport supplies and equipment to various work sites, with some equipment being heavy and awkward ( mobile dental delivery units and chairs). Individual must drive and have an operational vehicle available. Driving can involve both urban and rural travel. Compensation for work-related travel will be provided. The position is a ten (10) month position in schools. It is on a compressed schedule with all hours of work scheduled during mid-September through mid-June of each year to mirror the program's work during a school term.

    Description:

    As an Administrative Support II, you will require administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.

    Required Qualifications:

    Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.

    Additional Required Qualifications:

    Post-secondary education in Medical Office Administration, Medical Office Assistant, Unit Clerk, or equivalent. Minimum one year experience in a data entry or administrative position. Proven ability and desire to consistently demonstrate and model the AHS Values to promote a safe, productive and healthy work environment.Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as an effective member of a team.Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a wide variety of people in a health care environment with professionalism and respect.Ability to communicate effectively with clients of varied backgrounds and needs.Demonstrated ability to be attentive to detail.Well-developed organizational and time management skills.Demonstrated ability to keep records and information confidential, understanding legal requirements with records and processes for securing information when transferring.Strong written and verbal communication skills in the English language.Ability to proficiently use multiple computer systems – Outlook, Word, Teams, SharePoint; experience with Connect Care preferred.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Experience working with young children and marginalized populations.Work experience in a dental and/or school environment, or child-centered situation, previous work in community health preferred.
