Your Role and Responsibilities

Put your technical skills in the spotlight securing our clients' most important assets.

As an Entry Level Security Consultant, you will:

  • Be part of the world's largest consulting practice with industryleading security research capabilities.
  • Get exposure to multiple security competencies, job functions and work alongside more senior level security consultants, to collect and analyze existing business and technical requirements following the initial 2 to 3 months of onboarding and education.
  • Participate in client engagements, assist with client deliverables, work on Requests for Proposals (RFP) and participate in client meetings.
  • Work as a team member with client personnel and other IBM teams to identify functional requirements and subsequently work with or in some instances lead others in the identification, justification, and design of the client's solution.
  • Solve complex client challenges and provide holistic solutions that incorporate people, processes, and technologies to improve our clients' security posture.
  • Team on all phases of engagement to monitor, detect, plan, build, implement, and support advanced security solutions.
  • Be an integral part in providing our clients with an integrated approach to business design and execution, turning strategies into actions.
  • Establish new, flexible and iterative approaches that only IBM can offer through our unique combination of skills, experiences, and capabilities.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Knowledge of IT Security concepts and fundamentals.
  • Eligibility to obtain Canadian L2 Secret Clearance
  • Outcome focused, possessing a high level of resilience, you demonstrate the flexibility and resolve needed to achieve success across a broad range of consultative contexts.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Familiarity with concepts of network design, network security, authentication, authorization techniques, and encryption protocols and standards.
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following security practices: Threat Management including Security Intelligence & Operations Consulting, Data and Application Security, Identity & Access Management, Cloud and Infrastructure Security, and/or Strategy and Risk.
  • Exposure to one or more software tools such as Java, Python, C/C++, Java, Ruby, GO, Golang or bash, C#; SharePoint; Software code Testing and Test Automation is helpful.
  • Familiarity with network security tools for vulnerability scanning, network monitoring, network sniffing, routers, firewalls, Intrusion detection and protection, anomaly detection and encryption standards.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Knowledge and or experience in IT system or network administration; Network Troubleshooting and Cyber intelligence analysis, including opensource research and analytical tradecraft, identifying cyber threat actors, including advanced persistent threats and associated Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs)
  • Trending/Threat Analysis Report Writing and Performing cyber system security assessments
  • Cyber Threat Analysis and IDS/IPS/SIEM systems
  • Firewall administration and management.
  • Experience performing security assessments, risk management or compliance activities.
  • Experience with Operating Systems
  • Linux (preferred) / Unix / Windows
  • Experience with SIEM technologies such as Q Radar and/or Sentinel and/or Splunk
  • Knowledge and understanding of TCP/IP Network Fundamentals
  • Understanding of TCP/IP Network Fundamentals, basic routing protocol fundamentals
  • Must be able to draw upon professional concepts to collaborate with others to carry out assigned duties.
  • Challenge the validity of given procedures and processes with the intent to enhance and improve.
