About This Opportunity:


Pictou County Family Medicine is seeking a several family medicine physicians to join one of their two collaborative practices at either Westside Clinic or Eastside Clinic, that includes one nurse practitioner, one family practice nurse, and one pharmacist, and a social worker.

This practice uses an up-to-date electronic medical records (EMR) system.

Physicians receive support and services from Aberdeen Hospital (AH), the regional acute care facility serving Pictou County.

Completed in 2017, the emergency department at AH underwent an extensive redevelopment to improve the layout and workflow of the existing space.

Physicians can refer patients to the One Door Chronic Disease Management Centre to address the needs of clients diagnosed with diabetes and/or cardiovascular health issues.

In addition, the centre provides a Diabetic Education Clinic on site in Pictou two days each week.

AH offers a wide range of primary and secondary services through inpatient, outpatient, and community-based services and programs.

Responsibilities:

- delivery of comprehensive primary health care services to practice patients of all ages and stages of health or illness
- clinical services (shadow billable and non-shadow billable) 35 hours per week
- clinical support services (e.g. practice support, capacity building) 2.5 hours per week


Expected Hours:

- opportunity offers flexibility
- full-time or part-time hours

  • 37.5 hours per week (excluding oncall time)
  • 46 weeks per year
- requires some on-call work


Qualifications:

- all family physicians must be eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada(CFPC)
- membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
- all applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
