Richmond School District operates 37 elementary schools, 10 secondary schools, alternate programs, continuing education and a number of additional facilities.

The district enrolls approximately 23,700 students (K-12) and employs over 3500 staff.


The Budget Analyst is responsible for supporting the execution of financial planning and report analysis for the district's strategic initiatives.

Reporting to the Manager of Financial Services, the Budget Analyst supports the development, implementation, maintenance, evaluation, and improvement of budget, planning, forecasting, financial reporting, and analytical functions of the district.


Responsibilities:

Assist in the development of the district's budgets, forecasts, and financial data.


Provides support to the Manager of Financial Services and Assistant Secretary Treasurer in the efficient execution of accounting procedures, ensuring compliance with internal controls and Board Policy.

Provide on-going consultation, liaison and direction to senior district leaders and managers on distributed budgets and board financial policies.


Monitor financial activity and identify cost pressures on various budgets as well as revenue enhancements to ensure adherence to Ministry of Education and Child Care guidelines.

Monitor school budgets and provide financial and budget information and support to schools and departments.

Conduct monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc account analysis to reconcile and report financial data.


Assist in the provisions of internal audit, financial services, and training to schools and departments, ensuring the probity and efficiency of school and departmental financial operations.

Supports budget planning and analysis processes.


Fulfills any other ad-hoc requests from management, including but not limited to assisting in the district's annual financial statement preparation, and financial reporting function as needed.

Foster an environment of collaboration and strong customer service culture.

Chartered Professional Accountant designation in good standing or currently have substantial completion of course work towards an accounting designation.


A minimum of three (3) years of progressive working knowledge in accounting and finance, preferably within a large public sector or educational institution.

Sound knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS) and external auditing requirements for organizations working within the public sector.

Strong knowledge of financial systems as they relate to internal and external financial reporting, and internal control.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a strong focus on customer service.

Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, including the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.

An understanding of and respect for the diverse values and culture of a school district environment.
