    Description

    The Opportunity:

    The City of Red Deer is currently recruiting for two (2) permanent full-time Transit Operations Supervisors . These positions are responsible for the supervision ofconventional and action bus operators, acting operations supervisors as well asservicing staff during any scheduled shifts ensuring the safe, reliable,operation of transit vehicles on prescribed routes, specialized service,charters and regional transit service. Guides staff to assist them inrecognizing and taking appropriate steps to alleviate problem performance.Guides staff through the Work Expectation & Review process. Responsibilityfor conducting accident investigations. Observes and reports problems dealingwith service levels, passenger loads, routing, equipment and bus stopmaintenance, passenger and operator complaints. Take appropriate action to dealwith problems affecting service; assists operators experiencing passengerconflict as required. Acts as the Senior Operations Supervisor in his absence.

    As our preferred candidate, youwill have:

  • High School Diploma
  • Supplementary Personnel and Supervisory ManagementTraining.
  • Level one Accident Investigation Certificate, FirstAid and C.P.R.
  • Recognition training, in areas such as alcohol anddrug abuse, preventing workplace violence, crisis intervention, etc.
  • Minimum of 3 years' of progressively more responsibleand diverse exposure to a broad range of professional transit experience in asupervisory capacity and/or para-transit supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of training and evaluation procedures,public transit routing standards, para-transit service standards and safetyprograms would be an asset.
  • Ability to deal effectively with the public, maintaina good rapport with subordinates, other staff, and an ability to handle publicand subordinate criticism.
  • Ability to work under very fast paced high-pressurescenarios, where on occasion, quick decisions and action are required tomaintain service levels.
  • Ability to write comprehensive and detailed reports.
  • Excellent working knowledge of computer systems asutilized by the City of Red Deer and as required for the function of the job.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in continuous learningand on-the-job training.
  • Light duty mechanical ability will be an asset.
  • Must possess working knowledge of mass public transitconcepts, safety, planning, training, other practices and equipment.
  • Must have a high level of competence in dealing withhuman resource issues.
  • Must possess working knowledge of specialized publictransit concepts, safety, planning, training, other practices and equipment.
  • Class 2 driver's license with Air Brake Endorsement.

    Remuneration:

    $34.74 to $43.42 per hour ($72,250 to $90,312 per annum).

    Hours of Work:

    80 hours biweekly as scheduled. Shifts will bea rotational schedule, including days, evenings and weekend work.
