Description

Your Opportunity:

The Royal Alexandra Hospital is located in downtown Edmonton and is a fast paced acute care urban hospital providing care to patient's from a variety of backgrounds, diagnoses and experiences.

The Chaplain - Spiritual Health Practitioner (SCP) is accountable for providing, consultation, expertise, and direct service delivery in all matters related to spiritual health care in the context of health and care.

The RAH Spiritual care health team reports to the Allied Health manager and consists of a small group of dedicated and caring individuals providing front line care to patients, families and staff.

The SCP advances an evidence based spiritual health care approach inclusive of patients/families, staff, physicians, and volunteers which is integrated into interprofessional collaborative team practice.

Given the variety of spiritual, religious, cultural, and philosophical beliefs that co-exist, the SCP encourages respect for individual patient beliefs within the health care team, and also facilitates and supports the involvement of religious community visitors (rcvs).

As a health care professional, the SCP is skilled in providing existential, spiritual, and religious patient care across beliefs, cultural perspectives, and practices and is therefore distinguished from religious community visitors whose patient care is circumscribed by the perspectives and practices of particular religious/spiritual communities.
