(CFY) is a professional service, youth-focused, non-profit, charitable organization that creates spaces and conversations, and operates programs and social enterprises to help vulnerable youth secure stable housing, employment, and education while improving health and family stability.

With a focus on prevention, intervention, and support, we help youth and their families break cycles of poverty and homelessness and transition to healthy, stable, and independent lives.


CFY is seeking to hire
one (1)
Fund Development and Communications Officer to join our Fund Development and Communications Team.

The team oversees all aspects of communications, marketing, and fundraising for CFY and provides support to all programs and social enterprises at CFY.

***Reporting to the Fund Development and Communications Manager, the Fund Development and Communications Officer will play a key role in supporting CFY's grant and fundraising initiatives; all channels of communications; engaging our donors, supporters, volunteers and staff through social justice and appreciation events; creating engaging and compelling content across multiple platforms; and analyzing and researching market trends to determine CFY's fundraising and communications focuses each year. Projects will include a variety of independent work, assigned tasks, and collaborative initiatives both within the team and across the organization. All participants are encouraged to apply, even if they have experience in one area over the other (e.g. fund development vs. communications).


ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Fund Development

  • Oversee CFY's grant portfolio.
  • Engage with corporate and community funders.
  • Manage CFY's donor platform.
  • Complete CFY's tax receipting
  • Research and determine viability for new fundraising initiatives.
  • Plan, manage, and execute fundraising campaigns and events.
  • Build new community partnerships to grow fundraising events portfolio.
  • Seek out and support thirdparty fundraising events.
  • Recruit and manage event volunteers.
  • Secure event sponsorship
  • Manage activities within allocated fundraising events budgets.

Communications:


  • Support on the execution and implementation of CFY's new Organizational Communications Strategy
  • Oversee and support with CFY social media platforms.
  • Create and update content for CFY communications platforms.
  • Support and oversee volunteer recruitment and tracking.
  • Support grant writing as needed.
  • Represent CFY in public speaking engagements and community events.
  • Seek out and attend community building events that align with organizational values.
  • Nurture and contribute to the unique culture of the organization.
  • Help foster a social justice approach among colleagues.
  • Other duties as required.

REQUIRED SKILLS & SPECIFICATIONS

  • Proven grant writing skills
  • Detail orientated and quick problemsolving abilities.
  • Ability to exhibit a high level of confidentiality and flexibility towards change.
  • Exceptional time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven relationship building skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and holistically about branding and integrated marketing.
  • Demonstrated ability to support and/or lead events.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Postsecondary degree in business, communications, marketing, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experiences may be considered.
  • A minimum of 35 years' experience in event planning, fundraising, communications, marketing, or in a business development environment
  • Experience with grant writing and tax receipting.
  • Experience working with social media scheduling and monitoring tools.
  • Experience working with donors, strategic partners, and sponsors.
  • Experience with presentations, public speaking, and media appearance.
  • An active driver's licence and occasional access to a vehicle
  • A satisfactory certificate of conduct and vulnerable sector check is required.

WORK HOURS
The position will work 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. However, flexibility in work hours will be required for events and engagements.


COMPENSATION
The salary for this position is
$48,516 - $53,917 annually.

CFY offers a competitive compensation package, including:
a health and dental program, employer-matched RRSP and four weeks' vacation to qualifying employees.
