    Your Opportunity:

    The IR Unit Clerk is an essential member of the interprofessional team in Interventional Radiology and is a major asset to the smooth and efficient operation of the unit. The IR Unit Clerk plays a key role in helping to foster a team environment in the modality by facilitating communication between nursing, physicians, inpatient units, units within Alberta, other health disciplines, departments, patients, and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. Working under the general supervision of the Radiologist and Interventional Team the Unit Clerk provides a variety of clerical support duties and is responsible for arranging multi-disciplinary appointments, chart preparation and management, processing physician orders, triaging & organizing 4 Interventional suites, being a designate for room booking and schedule management, performing tasks associated with maintaining room schedules, flow and efficiency as required. Essential to this position is a high degree of flexibility, excellent time management and organizational skills, ability to multi-task and work in a stressful environment, and advanced computer skills. The incumbent of this role will be required to ensure all consents, blood work and dietary/medication restrictions have been adhered to prior to their procedures, ensure reminder calls have been done and appropriate follow ups are booked. The incumbent must have excellent customer service skill, be proficient with oral and written communication, maintain professionalism in all situations, be detailed oriented and have organization, multi-tasking, prioritization, and computer skills to work effectively in this role.

    Description:

    As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

    Required Qualifications:

    Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.

    Additional Required Qualifications:

    Graduated from an approved MOA or Hospital Unit Clerk course. Medical Terminology. 1-year acute hospital experience. Demonstrated high functioning time management skills. Demonstrated ability to prioritize in a rapidly changing environment. Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills through computer, verbal, and written means, in a professional and mature manner. Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills – knowledgeable of Microsoft Office applications. Demonstrated ability to successfully establish relationships with both patients and families and engage them in their care.     Preferred Qualifications:

    Diagnostic Imaging Department experience preferred. Proficiency in applications such as Connect Care, Netcare & Approach.
