POSITION OVERVIEW


Reporting to the Engineering Services Manager, the Lab Technician assists the Research and Development Engineer and team by working on quality control as well as research and development projects.

This position also supports the sales team by reporting technical data collected during quality control testing and in the field.

This position also performs shotcrete audits underground at different mine sites.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for quality control testing of plant production at the designated plant including: verifying samples, testing products and reporting the results
  • Ensure all nonconforming results are reported to the R&D Engineer or the Engineering Services Manager
  • Responsible for performing laboratory tests for research and development projects for R&D and communicating the test results
  • Order supplies for the lab and maintain lab equipment
  • Perform tests for Operations with a goal of improving plant efficiency and reworking nonconforming product
  • Support the Sales team by reporting test results to the Technical Sales Representatives and Managers
  • Report technical results from job site data collected by the sales team
  • Coordinate and perform underground shotcrete audits at various mine sites
  • Test various samples from underground testing and coordinate testing of shotcrete panels with thirdparty labs
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Civil Engineering Technology or Technologist Diploma, Chemical Engineering Technology or Technologist Diploma also applicable
  • Relevant laboratory work experience considered an asset
  • Experience performing standard concrete quality tests considered an asset
  • Ability to communicate (verbal and written) in English required
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel and the able to learn new software
  • Understanding of concrete technology
  • Attention to detail
  • Works well independently and without direct supervision
