Description

Purpose:


The Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies (LA&PS) is the largest Faculty at York University with over 24,000 undergraduate and graduate students, and almost 100 programs delivered through 25 Departments, Schools and Colleges, plus the IBM Markham Learning Site.

Education:

Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g. the Social Sciences, Humanities, etc.). Doctorate preferred.


Experience:

Three (3) years practical research experience required along with a familiarity with research culture and experience conducting independent research. Graduate work plus several years' related experience working in a research environment in an institutional (government, agency, university) setting. Demonstrated experience in preparation of grant proposals with proven editorial and writing experience required.


Skills:


Superior communication skills, including both written and oral communication, and specific skill in drafting reports, communications, proposals, etc., and interviewing.

Strong research and analytical skills, with experience in advanced research methodologies.
Proven ability in interpreting external and internal policies, procedures, and regulations.
Effective advising and interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy, and discretion in dealing with confidential information.
Flexibility and good judgement.
Strong organizational skills including ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet competing deadlines.
Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office software (i.e. Word, Excel, Power Point, Adobe).
Ability to work independently and as part of team.
Proven ability in rapport-building and collaboration


Other:
Demonstrated record of good attendance and punctuality.
