Responsibilities

  • Ability to perform the following tasks independently to a high standard of quality & efficiency: Demolition & Cleanup, Concrete Work, Framing, Insulation & Drywall, Painting & Staining, Tile & Flooring, Trim & Doors, Exterior Finishes (windows, siding, roofing, soffit, fascia, eaves)
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the Site Supervisors to ensure job efficiency
  • Manage daily, accurate time cards as per daily tasks for crew
  • Complete tasks in a timely manner, above industry standards.
  • Assist the site supervisor by organising, directing and supervising employees engaged in specific functions on construction projects
  • Unlock and lock work sites at the beginning and end of each workday
  • Responsible for maintaining the highest standards of workplace health and safety and supervising the safe practices of a small team in accordance with all local health and safety laws and regulations
  • Work with trades and subcontractors to accomplish project goals
  • Work oneonone with our trainees to providing guidance, advice, feedback, and support
  • Ability to teach and communicate effectively to team members with different learning styles and abilities
  • Ability to hold people accountable to their work and goals in a supportive manner

Required Skills/Qualifications

  • Minimum five years of experience in the field of construction
  • Minimum one year as a Lead Hand or Foreman
  • Must have steel toe boots and hard hat
  • Must own all their own hand tools and basic power tools
  • Must have valid driver's license and own reliable transportation
  • Positive attitude and a great work ethic
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to take instruction as well as instruct others
  • Responsible, motivated and interested in learning new skills
  • Can work comfortably in a team or independently
  • Precision work without close supervision
  • Ability to recognize potential problems; report and address them in a timely fashion
  • Working at Heights, WHMIS, and First Aid certification assets but not required
  • An understanding of social housing, homelessness, or social justice interest an asset

$24.00-$30.00 per hour
