(EMC) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Medavie Health Services (MHS) that manages and operates ground ambulance, air medical transport and the medical communications operations in Nova Scotia through a performance-based contract with the provincial government's Emergency Health Services (EHS) Operations division and the Department of Health and Wellness.

As well, EMC operates TeleHealth/811 medical communications for Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island for the Department of Health.


We access all communities in Nova Scotia in a timely and efficient manner with our fleet of more than 180 ambulances and support vehicles operating out of 60+ stations.

We respond to 165,000+ calls annually across the province, which are actively managed through the EHS Operations Medical Communications Centre, the hub of all emergency (911) and non-emergency (hospital transfers) medical calls.


The EHS Operations LifeFlight program provides even greater accessibility by responding to patients on scene or through inter-facility transports by our critical care team via helicopter, fixed wing, or ground ambulance.


In addition, paramedics in Nova Scotia participate in various programs both urban and rural such as community-based paramedic programs, collaborative emergency centres, and emergency preparedness and special operations, to name a few.

Your work will help us engage our employees in the communities we serve, manage events and sponsorships, and support giving initiatives.

As an energetic self-starter able to network and bring great ideas forward, you will gain valuable experience collaborating with team members across our organization and working with community partners to help build a healthier Nova Scotia.


What you'll do:

  • Working with the Senior Manager, Communications and Stakeholder Relationships, support the development and activation of community sponsorships to inform the public about health promotion, injury prevention and emergency health services across Nova Scotia.
  • Working with the team to coordinate how our brand is viewed and experienced in our communities through recognition of donations, sponsorships, activations, and other community impact needs including awareness and engagement initiatives.
  • Coordinating and supporting paramedic provincewide volunteer initiatives such as school and nursing home visits, health fairs, etc.
  • Ensuring events and sponsorships are aligned with the organizational mission, vision and core values.
  • Preparing accurate records, reports, and maintaining a fundraising database.
  • Assisting the communications team by supporting other communication activities based on current projects / priorities.
  • Experience that includes work with purposedriven organizations, community giving, sponsorships or business development.
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel)
  • Detail oriented with ability to work independently and with multiple regions and stakeholders.
  • Ability to build relationships across various stakeholder groups, with required travel to attend partner events and sponsorships.
  • Ability to provide superior customer service and be proactive in anticipating needs and provide accurate, timely resolution of issues when they arise.
  • General budgeting and financial acumen.
