Job Summary

  • Reporting to the Head Coach Track and Field,
-
the Speed/Power Lead will oversee a team of volunteer coaches to ensure appropriate and effective programming for all student-athletes under the speed/power umbrella (sprints, jumps, throws, combined events). The Speed/Power Lead will be the primary coach for the majority of speed/power athletes and will be responsible for recruiting within those event groups.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement Yearly Training Plans and individual practice plans for all sprints, horizontal jumps.
  • Select members and running order for all 4X200m and 4X400m relay teams and schedule relay team training practices throughout the season.
  • Facilitate effective communication between studentathletes, team staff, and assistant coaches.
  • Work with throws, high jump, and combined events coaches to ensure effective programming.
  • Identify and pursue prospective speed/power studentathletes, and assist the Head Coach in creating and implementing a recruiting strategy to build a team that is regionally and nationally competitive.

Note

  • Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work inperson on campus.

Required Qualifications

  • NCCP Performance Coach Trained (jumps or sprints/hurdles).
  • Experience coaching at the USports (or equivalent) level.
  • Must have been actively coaching at the USports or Athletics Canada Club level for the past three years.
  • Energetic, motivated, able to work in a high pressure environment.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal/written).
  • Positive, professional demeanour.
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
