Clappison Animal Hospital, located in Hamilton, Ontario We are a tight knit team of people dedicated to support pet owners to help their animals live long, healthy and happy lives.

We are currently seeking a confident, positive and personable Veterinary Assistant to complement our team. This position is Full Time. Hours to be discussed during the interview process.

• You must be punctual and reliable.
• Available to work various shifts as our hours of operation are 7am to 7pm Mondays to Fridays and 9am to 3pm Saturdays and Sunday.
• Selfmotivated, dedicated to continually learning.
• Proficient working knowledge of computers.
• General math skills and experience handling cash and working debit machines.
• Must be able to lift 50 plus pounds with assistance.
• Possess a great sense of humor

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Admitting patients for appointments.
• Assisting the doctor with holding of patients and assisting with procedures
• Patient care (walking, feeding, assisting the technicians with holding of patients for procedures (incl. IV catheter placement, radiographs and surgical procedures)
• Excellent customer service skills; a real aptitude for putting pets and pet parents at ease and creating a welcoming environment
• Willingness to learn more regarding; pet nutrition, veterinary services, updated medical office procedures and assisting the veterinary staff with various tasks and treatments
• Helping to advise clients on seasonal treatments, spays, neuters etc.
• Cleaning duties including daily upkeep of clinic including pet kennels and common areas, laundry, windows, dusting and sanitizing, vacuuming and mopping floors. As well as deep cleaning of hospital to ensure sterile environments.
• Unpacking daily orders and restocking clinic shelves with product and medical supplies.
• Experience in a clinical setting and working knowledge of AVIMARK would be considered definite assets.

Salary:
From $16.55 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week


Schedule:

• 10 hour shift
• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Weekends as needed

Experience:

Veterinary Assistant: 2 years (preferred)
