Your opportunity:
The Research Officer is part of a team working at the Faculty of Kinesiology andPhysical Education and specifically in the Mental Health and Physical Activity Research Centre.
The Research Officer supports various research and administrative aspects of several projects, with a general focus on relationships between physical activityand mental health.
Specific current projects on youth quality sport participation focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion through a mixed methods, interdisciplinary perspective exploring multiple identify factors of race, Indigeneity, ability, social class, gender, and body size.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Exploring information from potential participants to determine if they meet study criteria
- Resolving issues in the course of data collection and escalating problems as required
- Coding quantitative and qualitative research data
- Generating reports
- Liaising with industry leaders and key target groups including athletes, coaches, officials, parents, youth, and sport administrators
- Organizing large team meetings with researchers and industry leaders
- Taking and distributing meeting minutes
- Serving as a resource to others by providing (nonsupervisory) jobrelated guidance
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Sciences or Kinesiology, public health, or psychology/related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum one (1) year experience coordinating aspects of research studies; knowledge of quantitative and qualitative methodologies; a demonstrated interest in physical activity is required
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques and software
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access), online survey software
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proven ability to deal with people in a tactful and effective manner
- Ability to exhibit sound judgment in decision making
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Identify and introduce variations to established administrative process to problem solve projectrelated issues as they arise.
- Must be able to work well under pressure, especially during peak periods
- Highly motivated with an ability to work well autonomously and to collaborate and participate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
