Primary Purpose

Job Role
The Student Services Officer will report directly to the Associate Director, Student Services/Registrar. The incumbent is responsible for front-line service to a diverse student population with regards to student support and enhancing socio-academic engagement on
- and off-campus.

This is a maternity leave coverage position which may become permanent. As this is a front-line student affairs position, the incumbent will be required to report on-campus full-time. The job may entail working some evenings and weekends on campus.


Key Responsibilities

Student Affairs Services Duties:


  • Providing professional, proactive, studentfocused, and exceptional frontline service in a variety of formats to a diverse student population;
  • Providing information in an accurate, friendly, empathetic, studentfocused, and timely manner;
  • Providing general guidance on College policies, guidelines, and processes;
  • Planning and executing student events and activities on
- and off-campus;

  • Supporting the planning and execution of student engagement strategies for domestic and international students;
  • Assisting with New Student Orientation and conducting presentations on Student Services processes and policies;
  • Assisting in administering the Health Insurance Plan (Guard.
Me/Keep.
ME SAFE programs);

  • Assisting with creating and distributing enrolment letters, invitation letters, transcripts, ID cards, and other student documents;
  • Supporting the Operations and Communications Manager in written and published communication for student events and updates;
  • Following up with students' special accommodation cases, incident reports, and other reports;
  • Managing the announcement boards and Student Events calendar both online and onsite; and
  • Assisting the Associate Director, Student Services/Registrar in achieving the objectives of the Student Services Department.

Operational Support Duties:


  • Assisting with frontdesk coverage in rotating shifts;
  • Assisting in greeting and welcoming visitors, clients, agents, and prospective students; and
  • Assisting with campus inventory management and supplies;

General Administration Duties:


  • Performing administrative duties under the management team upon request;
  • Updating student profiles in student information system and other data entry tasks;
  • Maintaining the general filing system and filing correspondence where appropriate; and
  • Other Student Services tasks as required by the Associate Director, Student Services/Registrar

Position Requirements

Education and Experience:


  • A postsecondary credential is required;
  • One to two years' experience in international contexts is recommended;
  • Experience in student services and engagement is strongly recommended;
  • Experience working in an intercultural environment is required;
  • Experience with client relations management software and marketing/communications software is recommended;
  • Experience with crossfunctional and crossdepartmental projects is required

Knowledge and Skills:


  • Strong communication skills in all forms including written and oral;
  • Willingness to learn and receive constructive criticism is vital to succeed in this role;
  • Intercultural competence or successful experience in intercultural settings is required;
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and multitasking skills;
  • Astute attention to detail is required to succeed in this role;
  • Must be able to work in a fastpaced environment with many deadlines;
  • Selfmotivated, proactive, and able to work independently and under supervision

Additional Information:


  • This position is required to report onsite and is not eligible for workfromhome accommodations
  • Vacation blackout dates include Orientation and Registration weeks (2 weeks during Winter, Spring, and Fall intakes), Convocation Day, and other related major student activities.
