About Potash


BHP's Jansen Potash Project, located approximately 140 km east of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan is BHP's first and most advanced potash project.

Jansen will add diversity and a Canadian presence to BHP's global portfolio. Jansen's large resource endowment provides the opportunity to develop it in stages, with anticipated initial capacity of 4.35 Mtpa. The BHP Board has recently sanctioned Jansen Project (Stage 1), with a US $5.7 billion investment. The project is now entering the construction phase, with the first potash expected in 2027.


Purpose:


About the Role:


In this role, you will:

  • Lead and facilitate the development and maintenance of construction strategy, constructability programs, modularization, standards, processes, and plans for a major capital project
  • Support the execution of a capital optimization program, identifying improvement initiatives to increase capital efficiency and productivity
  • Provide Construction expertise and coordinate resources deployed into a study team for the development of construction related deliverables, including but not limited to plans, processes, and procedures
  • Coordinate the execution of construction strategies and plans in accordance with program/project construction systems and standards
  • Support and conduct analytics on all aspects of construction execution, optimization, and improvement projects
  • Provide Construction expertise as input to value improvement practices such as constructability and integrated planning, in partnership with project functions such as engineering, procurement and project services
  • Provide "point of contact" between the construction/commissioning stakeholders and the existing operating facilities to ensure mínimal disruption to both Operations and construction/commissioning activities
  • Determine the underlying cause of problems and evaluates multiple solutions to ensure a planned and structured approach to solving complex problems

Work Location:

Downtown, Saskatoon; 40 hours per week, parking is provided on-site.

This role will require regular travel to the Jansen mine site located in Leroy, SK and periodic travel to Vancouver, BC.


About You:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil/Structural, Mechanical or Electrical) or Journeyperson's Certificate (Electrical, Millwright, Construction)
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered as equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree
  • Relevant construction experience in a major projects or program environment at a Contractor and EPC(m) level
  • Experience at the owner level, in the Energy or Mining sector would be advantageous
  • Deep functional knowledge of industry leading HSE, constructability, modularization, construction planning and technology practices in a multi discipline engineering and site construction environment including 3D data centric platforms
  • Demonstrated experience in studyrelated projects including industrial potash plant, bulk handling, and marine terminal construction
  • Aptitude for leading and executing project improvement using dataanalytics, value optimization, productivity, continuous improvement processes and advance work packaging
  • Strong interpersonal skills to engage, influence and build solid working relationships with stakeholders, peers, vendors, fabricators, engineering, and construction contractors
