About The Royal
ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND
Funded by Veterans Affairs Canada, the Atlas Institute for Veterans and Families (formerly the Centre of Excellence on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Related Mental Health Conditions) was established in 2019 to provide better access to information, research, tools and expertise on PTSD and related mental health problems and illnesses.
The goal of the Atlas Institute is to create knowledge networks with researchers, service providers, Veterans and their Families across Canada to that will increase expertise on military and Veteran mental health, suicide prevention and substance use disorders.
The Atlas Institute will create new knowledge on Veteran mental health treatments that work and will place it directly into the hands of mental health professionals and others working with Veterans on a daily basis.
We will share evidence-based treatment protocols and best practices among the Veterans Affairs Canada network of Operational Stress Injury Clinics, the Canadian Forces Health Services, and with mental health professionals across the country.
POSITION OVERVIEW
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create strategic communications products, such as press releases, content for the company website, infographics, blogs, and newsletters
- Arrange and coordinate press conferences, and support with Atlasled events
- Adhere to the company's style guide, ensuring highquality and errorfree copy in both English and French
- Ability to complete short English to French translations for the website and social channels
- Complete comparison editing of translations of key strategic documents to ensure accuracy
- Work with organizational team leads to brainstorm content ideas, in line with the organizational strategy and in support of various brand initiatives
- Support and evaluate results of communication campaigns
- Build and maintain relationships with media, journalists and key external roleplayers

- A selfstarter; ability to work with mínimal supervision and to ask for help when needed

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field
- A minimum of three years experience in developing strategic communications initiatives
- High computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and related business and communication tools.
- Skilled in Adobe Creative Suite
- Excellent French and English speaking, writing, proofreading and editing skills (equivalent to or better than Government of Canada language proficiency level C-CC)
COMPENSATION
- Competitive salary and benefits package, including four weeks of paid vacation and enrollment in the HOOP Pension Plan;

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Working standard office hours with start and end time flexibility (37.5 hrs/week). Option for a condensed fourday work week available upon approval;
- Must be comfortable working in open space and virtual environments;
- Physical/cognitive demands include use of typical office equipment, prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer/telephone, high degree of concentration and attention to detail;
- Psychological demands include deadline drive requirements, capacity to organize and prioritize own work, adaptable to change and ability to set and work towards performance and development goals.
