What do you need to be successful?

A University Degree in Kinesiology or equivalent
Knowledge of the rehabilitation approach to client care and the roles of OT, PT and SLP
Experience with rehabilitation services (hospital, clinic, community), pool therapy and/or personal training certifications are all assets
Excellent computer skills (i.e. ability to work in MS Word and Outlook)
Great interpersonal skills and the proven ability to work with different personality types
A valid Driver's Licence and access to a vehicle

Please note you will be fully supported by Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech Language Pathologists, Social Workers and other allied health professionals.

What is a day in the life of a FA Rehabilitation Assistant?

Providing 1:1 Kinesiology assessment and active rehab treatment sessions in client's home, work, gym, pool, or school settings, fully supported by Registered Occupational Therapists.
Facilitating treatment sessions focused on goals such as community reintegration, independence with activities of daily living and return to meaningful activities, supervised by Occupational Therapists.
Helping clients integrate mental health coping strategies, energy conservation principles and pain management techniques into their daily life.
Introducing yoga practice into client's rehabilitation treatments.
Working with clients on cognitive remediation and introducing compensatory strategies into their daily lives.
Displaying a growth mindset to increasing skills and knowledge in treatments to address emotional, physical and cognitive challenges.
Communicating with colleagues to nurture a culture of information sharing and support.
Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational days; training sessions, and establishing personal networks
