Your responsibilities
- Preliminary inspection, Test setup and diagnose to determine condition electrically, mechanically, the probable cause of failure or malfunction and the ability to perform; Ratio & Polarity /Winding Resistance / Insulation Resistance / Doble Power Factor & Capacitance / Doble Excitation/ Doble Leakage Reactance / SFRA / DFR / Current Transformer Test / Accessory Testing / Oil Samples
- Detank remove covers, manholes, lift core, coils and bushings out of tank as required to perform further preliminary tests.
- Inprogress testing for assembly and dry out including setup as required for; Dissipation Factor & Capacitance / Insulation Resistance / Ratio & Polarity
- Perform finals tests to confirm acceptance for customer to known standards, CSA, ANSI and IEEE as follow. All tests as listed above under Preliminary inspect, Test. Impulse / Switching Surge/ Induced / Applied / Core Loss / Load Loss & Impedance / Zero Sequence / Vector Relationship / Heat Run and Required Calculations / Infra-Red Scan / Sound Level / Final Oil Samples
- Create and manage test report files as required to meet the Customers' requirements
- Assess the test results for any nonconformity and immediately advise the responsible LTS or Shop Supervisor
- Submit the incoming and final test reports to the LTS for review and approval Performs all operations without supervision, directs the activities of lesser skilled employees and helpers as required
- Performs other transformer repair duties (i.e. assembly, winding etc) where skilled, and as assigned
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Your background
Grade 12 Secondary and technical college education in relevant electrical discipline, or equivalent on-the-job electrical testing experience.
5+ years of transformer repair experience and 6 years of direct hands-on experience in electrical testing.
Must have electrical theory and working knowledge of transformers.
Ability to understand and use test equipment and instruments required to perform preliminary, intermediate and final test.
Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical drawings and connection diagrams.
