Department: The Faculty of Hospitality and Horticultural Science (The Barrett
Centre)
Hours: 35 hours per week (1) one hour lunch; Mon – Fri (8:30 am – 4:30 pm; with
advanced notice, evenings and weekends may be required)    
Reporting To: Barrett Centre – Partnership Manager

 Duties and Responsibilities: 

The Barrett Centre Community Engagement Coordinator will support the
Barrett Centre's goal to increase its community engagement regionally,
provincially, nationally, and globally. This will include:

  • Building and supporting local & regional community engagement initiatives.
  • Identifying, planning, and initiating community engagement opportunities (including online via portal / LMS & in-person).
  • Community Member / Partner Relationship Management.
  • Representing the Barrett Centre at local and regional events / speaking engagements.
  • The Barrett Centre's growth goals for pan-CAD and global engagement, including strategic initiatives
  • Strategic planning for community engagement, including building Barrett Centre community partnerships and relationships. This will also include contributing to the annual strategy and implementation plan (including supporting budget) for local and regional community engagement to achieve the Barrett Centre goals.
  • Educational Content Development and Delivery:
  • Identify, develop/create, and review educational programs & resources, aligned with applicable curriculum frameworks (including, but not limited to, Ontario Elementary & High School curriculum) and leading urban agriculture research / best practices / thought leadership for both in-person and online delivery (via portal/LMS/virtual).
  • Create course content, workshop activities, teacher resources.
  • Create workshop extension resources, including but not limited to, research activities, and advanced learning workshops.
  • Work with partners to develop / modify existing programs to support custom workshops and activities.
  • Work with Events & Projects Coordinator to manage online repository of educational content (portal, LMS).
  • Lead and facilitate the delivery of the Barrett Centre's educational activities (programs, workshops, tours, activations, etc.).
  • Support activities that contribute to the growth of the Barrett Centre Urban Agriculture Community Portal, CRM & LMS:
  • Distribution to community members.
  • Maintain, facilitate, & grow community engagement and UX – propose solutions based on community and engagement needs.
  • CRM: Coordinate and track the BC's community partners and members via CRM
  • Work with the Partnership Manager and Events/Projects Coordinator to implement the growth phase of the portal, which includes a portal audit, community engagement/review, UX audit, and proposing solutions.
  •  Qualifications:

    1. A minimum of a 4-year degree in Education, Business, Communications and Marketing, or Urban Agriculture.
    2. A minimum of 2 years of work experience in coordinating community engagement and relationships, coordinating partnerships and networking with stakeholders and marketing and communications.
    3. A minimum of 1 year of work experience with a member/customer relationship management platform, LMS, and curriculum development. Additionally, experience supporting and/or working with a budget, and creating and delivering workshops across age groups (children, youth, adults) and abilities.
