Job Description:

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing including hiring and scheduling of field inspectors to provide resident services on various construction projects.
  • Train field staff as required including various survey layout works
  • Complete critical inspections on key construction activities
  • Coordinate of materials testing with applicable laboratories as required
  • Complete review and check on survey equipment and coordinate repairs / purchases as required.
  • Prepare proposal for field components on various projects.
  • Survey and layout for contractor's work as required based on field inspectors availability
  • Coordinate and carry out site surveys
  • Liaison on site with contractor, client, other approving authorities, including addressing resident concerns
  • Oversee field staff on a daily basis
  • Work closely with the Project Engineer and Project Manager, to ensure construction is in compliance with project specifications
  • Preparation and maintenance of daily work logs and other project documentation and reporting;
  • Provide clarification of drawings and direction to the contractor, with support from the Project Engineer
  • Carry out surveys and measurements for quantity calculations
  • Carry out inspections and prepare all necessary data and reports in order to monitor for conformance to quality, performance, specifications, and/or code requirements
  • Complete surveys for the preparation of record drawings
  • Preliminary design work related to site grading
  • Completion of record drawings
  • Assist with the preparation of the Project Construction Completion and Final Acceptance Certificate;

Qualifications:


Minimum Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree 8 years of relevant experience or Diploma/Certificate 10 years of relevant experience in a field role on water infrastructure projects or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Survey skills
  • Strong computer skills (Word and Excel)
  • Ability to read and interpret Civil construction drawings and specifications
  • Ability to work unsupervised in a remote location
  • Ability to document inspection and prepare field reports
  • Must possess a valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:


+ 10+ years of experience with the following:

  • Managing civil water and wastewater construction projects greater than $2M
  • Projects of the same type, e.g. odour control facilities, water distribution systems, sewage collection systems, sewage pumping stations, sanitary sewer rehabilitation projects, etc.
  • Construction methods of open cut, watertight closed sheeting, vertical trenching and all other trenchless technologies
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Accuracy with details is essential
  • Experience working around mobile heavy equipment
  • Familiar with materials testing procedures and construction coordination services
  • AutoCAD and Civil 3D is an asset
