Position overview
As the
Manager, Operational Safety, you are a positive self-starter with a mindset rooted in safety culture and efficiency.

You appreciate and respect the variety of competing interests and perspectives in a complex environment and thrive on bringing people together to manage through challenges.

You are a champion of safety collaboration with all levels in all organizations within YVR's operating environment.


Key responsibilities include:


  • Leads, mentors and develops a team of operations and safety professionals to build and enhance a culture of safety
  • Directs planning, development, implementation and execution of YVR's Safety Management System and its associated programs, including compliance to Aviation Safety regulatory obligations as part of YVR's approach to an Integrated Safety Strategy
  • Leads Operational and Safety Audits to ensure best and leading practices are developed and implemented
  • Advises senior management on matters related to Operational Safety and Strategy
  • Developing and embedding an integrated safety approach across all operational parts of the business no matter the company you work for
  • Driving a "we are all accountable" approach and a high reporting culture to ensure we are highly informed across the endtoend operations environment

Key qualifications include:


  • Completion of a postsecondary program (university undergraduate degree, college or technical school) or equivalent related experience in areas of operations and/or industrial safety
  • At least ten years' experience in related industry or field
  • Minimum of three years' leadership experience in a complex working environment (e.g., industrial, manufacturing or aviation)
  • Safety designations/certifications in Industrial Hygiene and/or Health and Safety, as well as TapRooT Root Cause Analysis experience are assets
  • Proven ability to drive change in adverse conditions, with demonstrated skills in conflict resolution, communication and change management
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license
